Steve helped us pull-off a great party, from recommending some changes to what I thought I wanted, organizing rentals, laying out a great time-table, and just generally being a super pleasant guy to work with. However, the food was what blew the roof-off! The BBQ was awesome, chicken really tasty, and the tri-tip was seasoned and grilled to absolute perfection. Sides were awesome, and banana pudding authentic and so good. At the end of the night when he and Amy came in to say bye, they got an ovation from our guests. I’d recommend and use Smokin’ Man again and again. Thanks Steve and Amy, for top-notch service and food.

I worked with Steve to cater a birthday party for my husband’s 30th birthday. Every single person at the party said it was hands down the best BBQ they have ever tasted – better than some very popular local restaurants in Raleigh/Durham area. Steve was so helpful to me and the service is top notch. We had the ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and mac n cheese. The ribs are the best you will EVER taste – they had a wonderful smoky flavor, fall off the bone and melt into your mouth! Steve went above and beyond what anyone would have done. He got to my house and sliced a lot of the meat right in my kitchen so it wouldn’t dry out on the way to my house. Steve goes the extra mile in his business to make sure you never have a doubt that you chose the best to cater your party. I vote for a Smokin’ Man BBQ restaurant so I can enjoy the food more often!

We had Smokin Man’s BBQ for the first time this July for a gathering of friends to celebrate summer. It was awesome! We had a tray of St. Louis style ribs and a tray of BBQ chicken. It was such a hit that I really wanted to take credit for the food myself. Smokin Man really came through for us! I can’t wait to tailgate at Dowdy Ficklen this fall with Smokin Man BBQ; it is going to be a blast! Great food, Great service, Great Price and NO HASSLE! This review comes a little late but I still reminisce about the ribs and chicken that we had almost 6 months ago! I thought it would be interesting to do something a little different for my boyfriends birthday so I planned for us to take one of Smokin Man BBQ’s classes. The experience was awesome! We had a good time cooking together but we had a better time chowing down! Just this morning that same boyfriend proposed to me and the first person that shot in my head was the Smokin’ Man, who HAS to cater my wedding. I know that if I have him there, if everything else goes wrong, at least my guests will leave lickin their lips.

I want to thank you for drawing my name in your Facebook fan contest. My wife, our four guests, and I greatly enjoyed the BBQ dinner you prepared for us. We had the finely chopped beef brisket (fat included), boiled potatoes, string beans, corn muffins, and slaw. The meat was perfectly chopped, with just the right amount of smoke and seasoning. The sauces were a perfect accompaniment and my guests appreciated the way both the sweet and hot sauces complemented the meat. None of us are from Eastern N.C., so the lack of vinegar/pepper sauce was considered a plus, not a minus. Lest anyone dismiss our palettes, though, we had decades of Carolina and Tennessee residency to know what good BBQ is.

Until coming to Eastern NC, I don’t think any of us had had the boiled potatoes you see so commonly in this region. Yours were tender and well flavored, much better than I’ve had before. As usual, people argued over the slaw, because what is too sweet to one might be just right to another. For those seeking a nicely flavored slaw with both tang and a hint of sweetness, you’ve got them covered for sure. The corn muffins went down so quickly, people were starting to look for more. Anyone using your BBQ catering services should get at least two of those per person.

You delivered the food earlier than promised, and if I hadn’t forced you to introduce yourself and your business to my guests, they would have never seen you. I’m glad you were able to tell your story, and maybe they will consider you the next time they need some BBQ catering services. In short, I want to thank you for letting us sample your delicious BBQ food. I have no qualms about raving to my friends and coworkers at ECU about you and your services. Good luck with your business, and maybe I’ll be able to take one of your BBQ classes some time.

Smokin Man BBQ; they could not have been better…all of our guests were complimenting us on how it was the best food that they’ve ever had at a wedding. We had a very casual ranch atmosphere, but their barbecue was elegant and perfect for our wedding; plus their service was exceptional. The owner was there along with their catering manager and 6 other staff members. We only had 180 people at our wedding. They kept everything clean and organized…plus their pricing was wonderful!!
